Have you guys seen "Bridge to Terabithia"? I saw it Friday. Unwisely, I chose to see it after a 24 hour fast and on very lowblood sugar so the decidedly high levels of melancholy hit me pretty hard. Which is strange since movies usually don't affect me.
By the way, I completely agree with the Star Trek review!
I love the way that the writers shifted the mythology of the franchise. The original mythology was getting more and more difficult to produce new material from. Six movies and and many spinoff series are hard to beat, and even harder to write so as not to make too many errors regarding all previous work.
They did good. Quinto made the transition from villain (Heroes) to hero seamlessly. The deleted scenes fill the backstory a bit better, but including most of them in the film would have made it long almost to the point of pain.
